Zum Thema "Nährstoffeffizienz" liegt ein weites Spektrum wissenschaftlicher Untersuchungen der verschiedensten Fachgebiete vor. In diesem Beitrag wurden die vorhandenen Untersuchungsergebnisse anhand von zwei Formen der Charakterisierung nährstoffeffizienter Sorten strukturiert. Einerseits wird mit dem deskriptiven Ansatz eine Beurteilung der Ertragsleistungen einer Sorte in verschiedenen Nährstoff-Umwelten in den Vordergrund gestellt. Hieraus ist eine direkte Selektion unter Freilandbedingungen abzuleiten. Andererseits wurde eine analytische Charakterisierung formuliert, aus der eine indirekte Selektion von nährstoffeffizienten Eigenschaften als sekundäre Merkmale zu entwickeln ist. This study aimed to study varieties of cabbage, carrots, parsnips, potatoes and swedes under organic conditions and to determine significant factors in the organic production systems that affect variety performance. Additional investigations were carried out with potatoes to study the effects of blight and potato cyst nematode. All trials were conducted on UKROFS registered sites and to appropriate organic husbandry standards. Measurements and assessments followed guidelines used for conventional trials, with quality criteria being based upon the requirements of the retail trade. Da Weizen aus biologisch-dynamischem Anbau gegenüber konventionellem Weizen häufig bedeutend niedrigere Proteingehalte aufweist, sollte die Möglichkeit der Verbesserung der Proteinqualität über die Sortenwahl geprüft werden. Strategies for controlling seed-borne diseases in cereals and possibilities for reducing fungiside seed treatments Organic Eprints

In the short term there is no useful alternative to chemical seed treatment for controlling the important seed-borne diseases in cereals. The only way to secure high quality seed is by discarding seed lots which have more than a specified level of disease. Without any other effective control measure than seed treatment large quantities of cereal seeds would be expected to be discarded. Another reduction model might be a differentiated use of seed treatments in the different certified seed generations. An important condition for the models is a representative seed test which for the moment only is possible in spring cereals. Genetically modified (GM) crops cannot be released into the environment and used as food, feed, medicines or industrial processing before they have passed through a rigorous and internationally recognised regulatory process designed to protect human and animal health, and the environment. The UK body that oversees standards in organic farming, the United Kingdom Register of Organic Food Standards (UKROFS), has ruled that genetically modified (GM) crops have no role to play in organic farming systems. In general, the characteristics of organic varieties - and by extension of organic plant breeding - differ from that of conventional breeding systems and conventional varieties. Realising an organic plant breeding system and subsequently steering it to meet changing demands is no less than a mammoth task. The many actions to be undertaken can be divided into short-term commercial and scientific activities, and longer or long-term commercial and scientific activities. Action must be taken in the short-term to ensure adequate quantities of organically propagated plants and seed. Grundet et nyt EU-direktiv skal alle økologiske landmænd i EU fra 2001 udelukkende anvende økologisk fremavlede frø. Da Danmark er førende på området, og hvidkløver er den vigtigste afgrøde på de økologiske gårde, er der behov for at øge dyrkningen. Der er imidlertid en række dyrkningsmæssige faktorer, der tilsammen er årsag til meget lave udbytter i de økologiske frømarker. Perennial survival of common bunt (Tilletia tritici) in soil under modern farming practice Organic Eprints

Three years of field trials in Denmark have shown that common bunt (Tilletia tritici) is able to infect wheat in crop rotations with several intercrops between susceptible crops. This contradicts most previous literature which concluded that common bunt is a seed-borne pathogen only able to infect through the soil in cases where wheat is grown in two consecutive years. It is argued that the reason for this change in pathogenicity can be explained by a change in farming practice

Le pouvoir de compétition des variétés de blé face aux adventices: un critère de sélection important en Agriculture Biologique Organic Eprints

Le contrôle des mauvaises herbes en culture céréalière nécessite une rotation raisonnée mais également une bonne gestion de la lutte mécanique. De ce point de vue, la manière la plus efficace pour contrôler les mauvaises herbes est l’usage de la bineuse. Pratiquement, cette méthode est désavantageuse car elle nécessite de larges interlignes (plus de 17 cm) et un rythme de travail réduit. L’étrille par contre est moins efficace mais implique moins de contraintes techniques. Soulignons que ces deux méthodes dépendent largement des conditions météorologiques et sont coûteuses (temps, carburant, machines). Results from new fungus-tolerant grapevine varieties for Organic Viticulture Organic Eprints

Two red and three white new fungus-tolerant grape varieties were tested within a period of five years. REGENT, RONDO, JOHANNITER and Gf 48-12 show a better wine quality than PINOT NOIR or SILVANER and can be recommended for Organic Viticulture as well as for the conventional viticulture to reduce copper and fungicide applications.

I afhandlingen beskrives principperne for økologisk plantebeskyttelse og der argumenteres for, at en plantesygdom som stinkbrand primært bør forebygges frem for at blive bekæmpet i et økologisk dyrkningssystem. Stinkbrandens biologi analyseres med henblik på at finde mulige forebyggende dyrkningsmetoder. Endvidere undersøges mulige bekæmpelsesmetoder, som er tilpasset økologisk jordbrug. Det konkluderes, at der findes forebyggende metoder, og at det er sandsynligt, at en systematisk udnyttelse af disse vil kunne forhindre hovedparten af problemerne med sygdommen.
